The philosophy that a "license does not earn a living, but an education does" is deeply rooted in the community outreach component of Federico Beauty Institute.

As an educational establishment, we believe it's important that our students receive a heightened sense of community and gain a better understanding of their place within society by participating in a variety of outreach activities where they are allowed to give their time and talent to the community.

Federico Beauty Institute is committed to the following programs:

NATIONAL CENTER FOR MISSING & EXPLOITED CHILDREN

Every day, 2,000 children are reported missing. With such staggering statistics, it is more important than ever that parents and guardians teach children how to stay safe. The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) helps prevent child abduction and sexual exploitation; helps find missing children; and assists victims of child abduction and sexual exploitation, their families, and the professionals who serve them. Every Spring, Federico Beauty Institute hosts a one day Cut-A-Thon with all proceeds going to benefit the efforts of the NCMEC.

WIG BANK PROGRAM

Founded in 1982 by Anne Federico, the Sacramento Wig Bank is our largest charity project. With generous donations from the American Cancer Society and industry vendors, the Federico Beauty Institute Wig Bank provides free wigs and styling services to hundreds of women in need of a boost while coping with the damaging effects of cancer.

MUSTARD SEED PROGRAM

Established in February 1989, Mustard Seed is a free private school which serves homeless children ages 3-15 years old. Within this structured academic program, children can laugh, relax and be children. They can unplug from the stressful world of homelessness and find hope for their lives. Since 1991, Federico Beauty Institute has provided free haircut and manicure services to the homeless children at Mustard Seed.

WEAVE

By helping victims of domestic violence and sexual assault reduce trauma, promote recovery and improve self-esteem, while advocating community education, WEAVE works to change the beliefs that condone and perpetuate violence in the Sacramento community. With the WEAVE "Suited 4 Success" program, eligible welfare-to-work and WEAVE guests are provided a wardrobe consultation and an interview outfit in order to enter the workforce. In an effort to improve the self-esteem and confidence of

these brave women, Federico Beauty Institute provides each participant a complimentary haircut, style, manicure and refresher make-up application.

VIETNAM STAND DOWN

Boy Scout Camp Pollock serves a significant number of homeless veterans and helps them locate the services they need to find their way back to a productive lifestyle. Veteran organization auxiliaries prepare kits with shampoo, washcloth, toothbrush and toothpaste, razors, combs and other hygiene items the participants can use during their time at the Stand Down. Federico Beauty Institute has participated with this program for over 14 years and provides over 250 haircuts for homeless veterans in Sacramento every year.

LOAVES & FISHES

Dedicated to feeding the hungry and sheltering the homeless, this charitable organization began 20 years ago as a small dining room created out of a skid row bar and is now a large complex providing numerous services to over 2500 different guests monthly. Federico Beauty Institute regularly provides haircut and manicure services to the homeless men, women and children of Loaves & Fishes.

SERNA VILLAGE

Established as transitional housing for men and women just out of homelessness, drug/alcohol rehab, and battered/abused situations, the families of Serna Village are all working towards improving their current state of life. On a quarterly basis, Federico Beauty Institute offers a variety of services to the residents of this community such as children's face painting, massage, manicures and haircuts.
